Speaker 1: First of all, it's a good idea to speak to people you know have their loved ones in an assisted living facility or a nursing home, while also, it's very important to visit that facility. How do the residents appear? Are they clean and properly dressed? Do they appear happy? Are they out and about participating in activities, or are they shut up in their rooms? How's the staffing? Is the staffing stable? If there's a large turnover in staff, that's an indication that there is a problem. There are also government websites that rate the skill of nursing homes, and you should be looking into that. It's good to go on a weekend, sample a meal, just get a general feel for what's going on at the place.
